Thrift Fashion Challenge - April '23

SPACES ARE LIMITED. Sign up early to avoid disappointment.

All proceeds from the event will be donated to the Watauga High School Student Council.

Winners will be announced on May 7th at 8 pm and prizes will be awarded!

Your outfit can be something you would wear to school, a party, dinner with a date, a formal function, or a job interview. Your outfit could be perfect for when you are trying to "fit in" or when you are trying to "stand out".

Contest Rules:

1) Shop for your outfit beginning April 1st.
 
2) The entry fee is $30. Bring $30 in cash or a check made payable to Burton Photo to your fashion photoshoot on April 18th or 20th.

3) You have a $30 spending limit (you don't have to include tax in your total).

4) You are permitted to include ONE article of clothing OR a pair of shoes in your outfit that you did not purchase for this challenge.

5) Alterations/modifications to any purchased garment are allowed.

6) Your outfit will be judged by taking into consideration these criteria: creativity, color harmony, use of accessories, impact attention-getting, and thriftiness. Judges will be various professionals outside of the High Country Community - so they won't personally know any of the participants.

Arrive at the time you signed up for your mini fashion shoot in your Thrift Store ensemble. (April 18th or 20th). We'll meet you at the parking deck on Rivers St. (461 Rivers St, Boone, NC 28607) Come to the third level. There is no charge for parking for less than an hour, after 5 pm on a weekday and on weekends.

If you are unable to come to your fashion photo shoot, please be considerate and let us know. We might be able to offer your spot to someone else if we know in advance you've dropped out.

If you are under 18 years of age, a parent or guardian must complete the e-signature in the model release.
