Thrift Fashion Challenge - Class of 2021

Thank you for your interest in Burton Photography's Thrift Fashion Challenge.

The challenge is open to ALL Class of 2021 seniors. See the challenge rules below.

Your outfit can be something you would wear to school, out to a party, when you are trying to "fit in" or when you are trying to "stand out". 

Proceeds from the event will be donated to the Watauga High School Student Council. A grand-prize winner and other winners will be announced on September 2.  The grand prize includes a Polaroid camera and cash! Other prizes include gift cards to Blue Deer Cookie and more!

Use the form below to select a time that is convenient for you to come to your mini fashion photoshoot.  We require a $25 entry fee to complete this booking. If you want to come with friends, there are multiple sessions available at each time slot. You can coordinate the time but everyone needs to sign up individually.

The location for the Fashion Photo Shoot is an alley behind Hanna's and Finleys off Main St., Blowing Rock. The nearest intersection is Main St. and Laurel Lane. You can see the map HERE. We'll notify you by email if there are any changes in location for your Thrift Fashion Shoot due to bad weather.

Contest Rules:

Arrive a the time you signed up for your mini fashion shoot in your Thrift Store ensemble. (August 18 or 19).

Shop for your outfit between August 5-18. You have a $30 spending limit (you don't have to include tax in your total). You must bring your receipts when you come to your fashion photoshoot. You'll be asked for the brand name and price of each article of clothing.

You are permitted to include one article of clothing OR a pair of shoes in your outfit that you did not purchase for this challenge.

Alterations to any purchased garment is allowed.

Your outfit will be judged by a panel of experts and points will be awarded in these categories: 

1) Creativity

2) Color harmony (or not)

3) Impact or attention-getting

4) Use of Accessories

5) Thriftiness

6) People's Choice
